Manchester United head coach Erik Ten Hag opened up on the possibility of selling star attacker Marcus Rashford to Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in the upcoming transfer window.
Rashford has only scored 12 goals in 47 matches across competitions and with his ongoing off-the-field issues, questions are arising within the club.
Talking ahead of United’s FA Cup match against Liverpool, Ten Hag admitted that there is no intention of selling Rashford as he is considered one of the most important players of the match.
"We didn't re-sign him last season for four years [to a new contract] with the intention to sell him. No," said Ten Hag in a press conference.
"He should be part of this project. It's not a subject we talk about."
PSG have been a long admirer of Rashford, they tried to bring the forward to the French capital last year but he ended up renewing his contract with the 20-time Premier League champions.
The French powerhouses are once again growing their interest in the 26-year-old as his position at the Manchester club is not getting better.
PSG’s star player Kylian Mbappe is expected to complete his long-awaited move to Real Madrid and the French club doesn’t want to be without a franchise player should the 2018 World Cup winner leave, and they see Rashford as the one who can take the place of him.
Remember, United will host Liverpool on Sunday in their FA Cup match and Ten Hag along with United supporters will count on Rashford to step up and guide his team to glory. The Dutchman believes that the Englishman’s pace would be key against The Reds’ backline.
"We are very good when there is space in the back of the defending line," said Ten Hag. "That will be also our intention for Sunday, we will go and be brave and go forward where it's possible.
“We know when there is space in the back of their defending line we can exploit it - but we have to get to that point, to outplay them, get the balls there and that demands good strategy in the key moments."
